They protect both patients and healthcare providers, fostering trust, maintaining professional integrity, and ensuring high standards of care. Establishing and respecting these boundaries is an essential component of a professional and compassionate healthcare environment.

You will:

  • gain familiarity with key terms such as power imbalance, dual relationships and boundary violations

  • understand specific boundaries required when interacting with current and former clients.

  • gain knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations governing professional boundaries in health and social care

  • learn how to maintain appropriate boundaries while ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable individuals in healthcare

  • learn how to set boundaries between colleagues

  • understand potential negative outcomes, such as dependency, resentment or distraction when professional boundaries are not upheld.
